Herald! Frankenstein - Cursive (2003)
“I can’t stop the monster I’ve created…” Laments Tim Kasher, Cursive’s lead vocalist and songwriter, and generally unhappy dude (at least circa 2003) on this track from The Ugly Organ. These words could mean a lot of things, taken in context of this ambitious, elaborate, and thorny conceptual effort. Is the monster the music he’s produced from the album’s titular organ, or is it something else altogether?
Whatever it is, there’s one thing I’m sure about after listening to this song, and that is that it’s right behind me (if not already under my bed and in my head) and it will consume me if I let it.
