Wheels That Go - Raymond Scott (1967)
In our tradition of hosting music made by some pretty weird birds, we present to you the wonderfully wonderful Raymond Scott, an electronic music pioneer who scored many a commercial, cartoon and experimental film in his day.
A collection of some of these experiments entitled Manhattan Research Inc. was released in 2000 and chronicles some of his work from ‘53-‘69. It’s a silly, charming and sometimes haunting collection as well as a treasure trove of short tuneage.
Be sure to watch the Jim Henson film this song was written for — and if you’ve any young children at home, consider picking up volumes one through three of Soothing Sounds for Baby by Scott to lull your children to sleep each and every night.
