Sad Quick Christmas Song - Danny Pudi (2010)

From Community’s phenomenal stop-motion musical Christmas Special. The episode takes all the best (and some of the worst) elements of all those infamous dubiously animated seasonal specials and turns it into a modern-day fable of holiday psychosis. Make sure you watch it if you haven’t already.

Here, Abed (Danny Pudi) is lamenting over the disillusionment he feels around his friends when they don’t understand his wintry stop-motion visions. Ken Jeong chimes in as the Chang-Snowman.

Happy Holidays!!

Christmas is A-Comin’ - Leadbelly (1941)

Well folks, it’s that time of year again. And who better to celebrate it with than everyone’s favorite ex-con bluesman Huddie Ledbetter.

We’ve covered him in an earlier post singing to the little children of the 1940s. Let’s hope that all of our Xmas celebrations are as jumpin’ as the one Huddie describes here.

Snowflake Music - Mark Mothersbaugh (1996)

Mr. Devo himself wishing you a happy holiday. From the Wes Anderson film Bottle Rocket, it’s the perfect soundtrack to a light, drifting snow outside your window.

Mothersbaugh does quite a bit of scoring and theme work. Although he works most famously with Anderson, he’s done work on Crash Bandicoot video games and wrote the theme for the show Beakman’s World.

An astounding collection of short tuneage has been borne out of this man’s head, and we salute him. We’ll be sure yo hear more from him as soon as possible.

Enjoy your holiday, folks!

Christmas Cheer - Chris Farstad & Simon Larson (date unknown)

Created by former MCADites and found on the free shelf, this little instrumental gem from the album An Xtreme Xmas won’t be found anywhere else. It’s sweet, it’s fun, and it’s very Christmasy. Enjoy.
